Europcar spends more than £1 million on new Heathrow outlet

Europcar has reportedly spent more than £1 million on a new rental outlet opened at London’s Heathrow Airport. The Europcar location is situated in close proximity to Heathrow’s recently opened Terminal 5, and the lot extends over 3.4 acres. The outlet first opened its doors to clients on April 1st, 2008, a day after British Airways started launching flights from T-5. According to Europcar’s own estimates, this innovative new outlet is now the largest not only in the United Kingdom, but also in all of Europe. Some 4,500 vehicles are available for rental from this new airport location and the outlet is apparently prepared to serve as many as 190,000 customers per year.

Europcar is the largest car hire firm in the UK, and in addition to operating under its own banner, this company also controls a number of other widely recognized brand names, including National Car Rental, Alamo Rent-A-Car, as well as the smaller Guy Salmon Prestige vehicle hire service. Passengers arriving to T-5 with the intention of collecting their car will now be able to do so by simply hopping on a complimentary coach service provided by Europcar from the main terminal building. John Leigh, Europcar UK’s managing director, observed that by opening Europe’s largest car hire location, the firm is effectively cementing its position as the lead player when it comes to car rentals in Great Britain. Clients are being offered increased choice when it comes to renting cars and much more efficient transfers from the terminal to the new Europcar outlet.
