Exotic cars available for rent
Posted on: November 11th, 2008 by Martin FellowesImagine accelerating onto the A48 after having explored the historic Cardiff waterfront and castle, ready for some relaxing time in the Welsh countryside. The day in early autumn is pleasant and you’ve lowered the roof on your Aston Martin DB9 Volante, making it easier to enjoy the sound of the rental car’s massive 6.0 litre V12 engine.
Even more stunning than the pastoral surroundings is that the 450-horsepower, 186-mph handmade Aston Martin doesn’t really belong to you – except for the day, at a rental cost of just $1,111. It’s an unusual rental car to say the least.
There exists a world of exotics for hire, albeit a minute part of the extremely competitive rental car industry, which brings in a total of $21.5 billion in revenue annually, and in which most any over-the-top car that’s available to be purchased is also available for hire. Rentals are available for either business or leisure needs, but not to everyone, as the prices make clear.
“A general rule of thumb for exotic car rentals is to price the daily rental at one percent of the sticker price of the vehicle,” notes the managing editor of Auto Rental News, Chris Brown. “So, a Lamborghini Gallardo can rent from $1,600 to $2,500 a day depending on the area, and a Ferrari 360 Modena can run you about $1,000. Porsches will rent for less, but we don’t keep overall statistics on exotics as it is such a specialty market.”
