Expedia Travel Trendwatch Reports Vacationers are not Swayed by Negative Travel News, Americans are Perceived More Favorably Abroad than Expected
Posted on: August 9th, 2007 by Dave AndersonThe world’s leading online travel provider, Expedia.com(R) , today introduced the latest issue of its quarterly report, Expedia Travel Trendwatch or TM. Expedia found that in the report travelers are taking the summer season in stride as their yearning for a relaxing vacations outweighs the potential delays or problems that can occur during peak travel season. In fact, a July Expedia.com poll found that 68 percent of U.S. adults who have taken or plan to take a summer vacation this year will not modify their vacation plans because of negative news around air travel hassles and rising prices. Also another poll of hoteliers across
Europe found Americans to be overall very good tourists exhibiting such traits as generosity and willingness to try local cuisine. On the other side, Americans did receive poor marks for fashion sense, hotel room cleanliness and being very noisy. Despite all of the tough travel problems that have hit all travelers on the roads and in the skies this the long tradition of a summer vacation still remains a part of the American psyche and travelers are just going with flow of everything that is thrown at them. They have found some surprises like lower airfares and warm welcomes when visiting overseas. It does look like nothing is going to stop the summer holiday vacation and that’s how it should be.
