According to a report in the Toronto Star, prominent members of New York’s fashion industry and celebrities on both sides of the border have taken a liking to Porter Airlines, the full-service Canadian regional carrier, which flies between the Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA) and Newark-Liberty on a daily basis. Many fashion designers and those involved in the industry find various aspects of Porter’s style and brand especially attractive. Suzanne Boyd, the editor of a new fashion magazine, went as far as to call the Toronto-based regional airline—which has as its mascot a trendy-looking raccoon—entirely “adorable.”
Tyler Brûlé has been in charge of branding Porter Airlines and when he spoke with the Toronto Star, the designer told the newspaper that passengers seemed to appreciate everything from the sophisticated lounge at the TCCA—which is open to all clients and offers them free beverages—to the slightly retro uniform and hat worn by flight attendants. The carrier even took the time to furnish each of its Turboprop planes with carpets and leather seats brought in from Switzerland. “I was just in New York and was truly amazed by the awareness and even the sheer number of people who’d already tried it ,” Brûlé noted. Prominent celebrities, like actor Amy Lalonde and tri-athlete Natasha Yaremczuk have already flocked to Porter, due to the premium quality of service and the attention paid to ensuring that passengers fly in style and elegance. Even Tiffaney’s vice-president Linda Buckley told the Star that Porter has turned into a “fashion airline,” and this is not only reflected in the carrier itself, but also in the impeccable fashion sense displayed by passengers. “Every woman on my flight had the right haircut, the right jeans, the right rock. I’ve only flown it once and I already feel like a shill for the company. I’m telling everyone about it,” Buckley told the Toronto Star.
