Finnair is offering reduced airfare from Manchester to Beijing, ahead of the Summer Olympic Games. Tickets on this route now cost £486 for travel taking place in February. The cheapest ticket prices are for departures occurring before 15 February 2008, while those after this date increase from £486 to £514, and in some cases to as much as £1014. The quoted fares, however, are fully inclusive of all taxes and surcharges. All flights involve transferring in Helsinki, in order to continue on the Helsinki to Beijing leg of the journey. Flights leave Manchester at 10:30am, arriving in Helsinki at 3:15pm, local time. There is then a four and a half hour wait in Finland, as the flight to Beijing departs at 7:55pm. Clients should keep in mind that Finnair does not permit any changes to departure dates after the tickets have been booked and Finland’s national carrier does not offer any refunds.
Passengers in economy-class will be provided with a bottle of spring water when they board the aircraft and snacks and drinks are available throughout the flight, at the pantry, located at the back of the plane. A hot meal is also served on all flights lasting longer than two hours. Passengers are offered a choice of complimentary English-language and Finnish newspapers on all flights and movies are screened on all long-haul routes.
Founded in 1923, Finnair is one of Europe’s oldest airlines and currently operates a fleet of 60 aircraft, flying to 65 destinations. The majority of these are within Europe, but a handful are offered in Asia and North America, including Beijing, Bangkok, Delhi, Mumbai, Tokyo, Seoul, Toronto and New York.
