Flybe Flight makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Failure

A Flybe flight had to make an emergency landing on Monday at Manchester Airport. The service was en route from Manchester to Bournemouth with 40 passengers on board when it had to return shortly after taking off.

According to reports, the plane’s pilot announced to the passengers that they were having some technical problems that weren’t serious but meant they would need to turn around an go back to Manchester. However, it wasn’t long after that, and the pilot made another announcement that the issues were worse than he thought, so they would have to shut down one engine. The aircraft was landed safely, and emergency fire crew met them, prepared for anything.

After landing, the passengers disembarked the plane and were put on a flight to Southampton. From there they were taken by bus the rest of the way to Bournemouth. One of the passengers described the incident, noting that the pilot used the PA system twice. Everybody stayed quiet and was scared, he continued, adding that a few girls were really shook up and distressed. However, he commended the flight crew for handling the situation well, keeping everyone they could calm. After seeing the fire crew, they were all relieved, he added.

A Flybe spokesperson confirmed that the plane was made to return as a precaution from a technical issue. Their number one priority is the safety of passengers and crew, they continued, and the pilot requested a priority landing. The plane taxied to its stand, he explained, and the passengers exited the aircraft as usual. The airline apologizes for the delay and any inconvenience this incident has caused passengers, added the spokesperson.
