Four Premier Inn Properties Announced

Premier Inn LogoPremier Inn has made some announcements recently about new properties that it plans to open. The four venues are being planned at Worcestershire County Cricket Club, in Barry, Dartford and Camborne.

The largest hotel chain in the UK submitted a planning application for a restaurant and hotel with 120 rooms at Worcestershire County Cricket Club in December. The new venue is part of a comprehensive redevelopment plan that will see £7.5 million invested by Premier Inn’s parent company, Whitbread, and £2.5 million invested by the club, the latter of which will be used to create new executive and conference facilities at the ground. If the Worcester City Council gives permission for the hotel and executive suites, construction on the development is expected to begin this September.

In Barry, Premier Inn will start building a new hotel and restaurant, which will create over 50 jobs. The new Triangle site hotel will have 80 rooms and an adjoining Brewers Fayre restaurant. The news has been welcomed by Barry Island and town traders. Whitbread Hotels and Restaurant senior project and programme manager Jim Francis says they are very proud of their plans for the new and sustainable Premier Inn and Brewers Fayre at Barry’s Innovation Quarter. They are working to complete the last few details of the project before construction starts on the site later this winter. They plan to have the development finished and open to customers by this October.

Premier Inn is also planning a new hotel and restaurant for Dartford, which will bring 45 new jobs to the area. The new hotel and Beefeater Grill restaurant (named The Beacon) will be located in The Bridge Development and will inject a £6.6 million investment into the local economy. The development will incorporate efficient under floor heating in The Beacon; toilet facilities will use grey water; the reception desk and restaurant will use LED lighting to reduce electricity consumption; and the restaurant will have energy efficient kitchens. The hotel will feature 60 rooms, each with: tea and coffee making machines, a bathroom with shower and bath, king-sized beds, remote control television with Freeview, and a spacious desk and internet access.

In Camborne, Premier Inn will open a new hotel and restaurant on Treswithian Road this month that will create 41 new jobs and inject a total £5.9 million investment into the local economy. Key green initiatives featured in the development include: efficient under floor heating in the hotel; solar panels in the car park to provide electricity and electric car charging stations; and the reception and Table Table restaurant will use LED lighting to reduce electricity consumption. The hotel will have 65 rooms that will each include: tea and coffee machines, a bathroom with shower and bath, king-sized beds, remote control television with Freeview, and a spacious desk and internet access.
