Following the failure of Freedom Direct Holidays, Hays Travel has acquired some of the travel company’s assets.
The intellectual property rights of the company, including its customer and bookings database, web addresses and URLs were purchased by Hays for an undisclosed amount.
Hays is pledging to assist customers of Freedom Direct in handling bookings they made with the failed company.
It has also revealed that it is offering employment to the staff who lost their jobs when Freedom Direct ceased trading.
John Hays, the managing director of Hays, said: “We were very sad to hear that Freedom Direct Holidays had ceased trading as it had a very good reputation and an excellent calibre of staff. Hays Travel was fortunately in a position to be able to purchase its assets.”
He went on to say: “We have also been able to offer the Freedom Direct Holidays staff alternative employment as part of the Hays Travel team.”
Nick Jackson, who previously was the Freedom Direct Holidays managing director, and Grant Lawson, who used to head the sales division, have joined Hays Travel.
The two executives will continue to manage other staff from Freedom Direct that have also joined Hays Travel – including most of the customer service, call centre and web and marketing teams.
