French rentals for Bank Holiday
Posted on: May 22nd, 2008 by Robert BergersonA recent survey has found that the cost of hiring a car for a family of five to explore France over the June bank holiday ranges from €161 to €257.
The price indicates the cost of hiring a Citroen Picasso or Renault Scenic on the morning of May 30th from Marseille Airport and retuning the vehicle on the morning of June 2nd.
The cheapest quote was provided by the Hertz Dublin office for a Citroen Picasso. The €161 quote, which was given by phone, included unlimited mileage, theft protection and damage waiver.
All other quotes came from online sources. Argus Car Rentals offered the second least inexpensive choice for the Citroen Picasso over the weekend. An automatic car, however, put the price up from €164 to €240.
In the middle of the range were quotes from Avis and Alamo. Avis rents out the Citroen Picasso for the weekend for €186.35. Alamo did not have that model car to choose from on its website, nor did it offer the Renault Scenic. Instead, a five-seat Citroen C5 1.8 for the weekend will cost €234.
The most expensive quote came from SIXT Car Rental which offered an early bird rate of €227 for a rental of a Renault Megane Scenic, but whose regular price for the rental is €257.
Regardless of which model car you select or which company you rent from, the price of the rental will depend on the car rental contract, and it pays to read yours closely before signing.
