A study just issued by a leading holiday let company has revealed Great Yarmouth is the cheapest place for a UK self-catering holiday at present. Holidaylettings.co.uk surveyed all the key destinations in the country for its recommended destinations for the forthcoming festive holidays.
The agency based its table on two-bedroomed holiday lets for November and December. The weekly median rate for the Norfolk seaside resort is £249. This is less than half of the £562 a similar sized property will cost in the Cornish resort town of Newquay for the same period.
The second cheapest holiday-let location is also on the east coast and is the perennially favourite town of Bridlington. The town’s Yorkshire neighbours of Pickering and Filey came in fourth and sixth respectively. Betws-y-Coed in Wales came third and Beadnell in Northumberland was fifth.
At holidaylettings.co.uk, Saskia Welman explained that most of the places offering the best value for money were also the UK’s traditional resorts. She carried on by claiming that it was worthwhile having a look at the holiday rentals in these cheaper locations as they are suited to families without huge budgets.
In the lead up to Christmas and the New Year, rates for self-catering and other kinds of vacation accommodation spike. People booking holidays often find themselves having to search harder for something that will suit their particular budgets.
Holiday Lettings UK is a part of the biggest global holiday let company of the same name. It has more than 400,000 privately owned cottages, bungalows, villas, farmhouses, caravans and holiday apartments in 150 countries on its books. Around 50,000 of these are in the UK.
