It seems that Greece just cannot get back on track. In fact, the country now faces even more challenges as more terrorist threats have hurt the tourism sector. The urban guerrilla group, Sect of Revolutionaries, has threatened to turn Greece into a war zone over this summer.
A leaflet print from the organization said that tourists should know that Greece is no longer a safe haven of capitalism. The aim of the group is to transform the country into a war zone of revolutionary processes. Things like arson, fierce demonstrations, bomb attacks and even armed killings could take place.
Although the British Foreign office has not yet issued a travel warning against trips to the country, some think that it is just a matter of time before they do. This would be just more bad news for Greece, which has already seen many other problems affect its travel and tourism industry.
Things like airspace closures during the two general strikes just earlier this year have already caused their fair share of harm to the number of international visitors that have been able to make it to Greece in the first place. Industrial action also saw a lot of ferry, bus and train services canceled.
For quite awhile now, the country has been at a complete standstill. Although the travel and tourism industry all over the world is pretty weak, it is taking an even bigger beating in Greece. Experts are not sure how much longer some of these companies can hold out. People have to remember that these companies had already taken a beating from the economic downturn, and this is just putting more pressure on them.
