A guest staying at a historic hotel in the Shropshire town of Oswestry managed to take home an unusual snapshot of what looks like a ghost. Douglas Patterson, 27, was in bed at the Sweeney Hall Hotel when he was awoken by a bright light from the window.
Half awake, he snapped a picture of the light to try and work out what it was and then went back to sleep. The following morning, Mr Patterson had a look at his midnight souvenir. He was astounded to see the figure of a woman in clothes from yesteryear on the photograph.
The Edinburgh man told reporters he was 100 per cent sure there was nothing and nobody there at the time he took the picture. He continued by saying it was very strange and that even though he had never believed in ghosts he was more receptive to the idea now.
Sweeney Hall marketing director Lindsay Steele says the eerie sighting is not the first time guests have reported strange goings on at the ivy-covered manor house. She claimed there had been incidents of furniture moving and the sound of footfalls on a deserted hallway.
She noted that it looked like the woman in Mr Patterson’s photograph was wearing a bonnet or had her hair piled in a bun. She said staff had looked through old pictures and paintings at Sweeney Hall to see if they could find out who the ghost was, but had had no luck so far.
