Harry Potter starting to take form in Florida
Posted on: December 8th, 2009 by Robert BergersonAfter many months of silence and the occasional insight into the proposed Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios in Florida, there is finally movement in the Potter camp as a new bridge is built along with a sign advertising the new attraction at the ever-popular theme park. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is highly anticipated and Universal Orlando has been somewhat tight lipped about its new addition that is currently being constructed in the Islands of Adventure section and is due to open its doors in spring 2010.
New adverts have begun airing on NBC Universal and plans to organise a grand opening for Harry Potter faithful have also recently been unveiled. The marketing campaign is likely to get into full swing after Christmas and the world should prepare for more Harry Potter mayhem. Universal Orlando will be spending a whopping $200 million on the new project in a bid to revive flagging visitor numbers in the economic downturn, which has seen many canceling expensive holidays and staying at home instead.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will comprise of rides, restaurants and shops and all will boast a Harry potter theme. This will be the parks biggest addition since 1998 when Walt Disney World opened Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Universal Orlando have refused to speak in detail about the new attraction; leaving fans wondering exactly what they should expect. The television adverts that have recently appeared on our screens have been placed in prime time slots during popular shows such as The Today Show, The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien and The Biggest Loser.
