Hertz Gives Fans Access to Tennis Stars

Hertz 'Driving the Championships' Car (Hertz Facebook)The Hertz Corporation has announced that it will be giving tennis fans exclusive access to the leading tennis stars in the world through unique daily interviews conducted throughout the tournament. Hertz is the biggest general use car hire brand in the world and the official transport provider of The Wimbledon Championships.

As part of the new “Driving The Championships with Hertz” video series, the company will be interviewing one tennis player or tournament official every day. This is in collaboration with The All England Lawn Tennis Club’s Live @ Wimbledon initiative. The interviews will be conducted in a Hertz Ford Galaxy Zetec as the players travel to The Championships between June 25 and July 8 – until the winners have been decided. All of the tennis stars will be transported in Hertz cars as they compete in the premier tennis tournament. The footage will be uploaded every day and will be available via links from the Hertz website, the company’s Facebook and Twitter pages, the Wimbledon website, and the new Live @ Wimbledon channel.

Live @ Wimbledon is an enhanced live television, video and radio broadcast service that will bring the digital experience of Wimbledon to life in a vibrant, fresh and creative way. It will blend live tennis and off-court scenes of each day at the tournament. This will allow fans more interaction and engagement in the Wimbledon website. The television service will be live in the UK and Americas initially, and available on the website and mobile apps.

This is the 18th year in a row that Hertz has been the official transport supplier for the Wimbledon Championships. During the two weeks, the company is providing officials, tennis stars and their coaches with rides in a fleet of 164 Ford vehicles. The fleet includes Galaxy and SMax vehicles, two coaches and luggage vans. Ford has been a partner of Hertz for more than two decades and has supplied the company with vehicles for The Championships since it’s been the official transport provider.

Hertz will deploy a team of 40 supervisors and 296 drivers to operate the fleet and transport over 32,000 passengers. The company expects to make over 1,000 journeys a day during just the first four days of the tournament. Last year, the fleet completed 17,000 journeys, carried over 32,000 passengers and drove nearly 250,000 miles.

Hertz has been collaborating with several of its partners to offer consumers around the world opportunities to win tickets to The Wimbledon Championships, as well as other travel prizes. Hertz International president and Hertz Corporation executive vice president Michel Taride says that it’s always been a great honour to support The Championships by carrying officials and tennis stars to and from the greatest tennis event in the world. For the first time, their journeys will be filmed to provide fans with exclusive interviews on their thoughts, ambitions and expectations for the tournament to celebrate 18 years as The Championships’ official transport provider, he added.

Hertz operates more than 8,500 corporate locations across 150 nations across the globe. This is its 93rd year of providing quality car hire solutions to leisure and business consumers. The company’s products and service innovations set it apart from the competition.
