Hertz Reveals How to Avoid Road Trip Arguments

Hertz logoA lot of people will be travelling during this holiday week, and Hertz knows that this is going to force family members to be in the car for a long period of time. When family members are put together for an extended period of time, it causes arguments. Research by the Hertz Corporation in the UK has found the most common cause of arguments during road trips.

At least four out of every 10 drivers named navigation as the most likely reason why people argue in the car. This is why 48 percent of people who took the survey said that a navigation unit was the most important thing that they could pack for the holidays. This helps them not only get to their destinations but also avoid arguments.

Hertz also found that parents probably need to take some things to occupy their kids. Naughty or noisy children was the second-biggest reason for arguments to start while on holiday. This was voted by 40 percent of motorists. Nearly a third of drivers, 29 percent, said that video game consoles and games are the most important things they can take on big road trips.

Although it’s possible to avoid getting lost thanks to a sat nav system, it’s not possible to avoid traffic. Unfortunately, this is the third-biggest cause of arguments in the car. It may not be so much that the family members are mad at each other; they are getting tired of being in the car, and traffic extends this.

The group president of Hertz International, Michel Taride, said that there are a lot of people taking to the roads this holiday season. This is going to be a very stressful time for families. Hopefully it will not be as bad as last year, when many people became stranded in their cars due to flooding from massive storms. This also caused a lot of traffic delays. This research shows how just a little planning can go a long way. Remembering to pack a sat nav or a video game console for a child may make all the difference during a long holiday trip.

Hertz also took this time to remind guests that it offers the Hertz NeverLost satellite navigation system. This is a sat nav that people can add to their car rentals, and the systems are loaded with maps from all over Europe. These systems come with 3D lane guidance, Bluetooth, voice controls and easy touch screens.
