Travelocity has been keeping it’s eye on car rental taxes. Travelocity has been studying results since 2003. Their latest report 06/07 gives away some surprises. Taxes continuing to rise (nothing new there) means that average car rental tax is an alarming 28% at large US airports. Although in comparison locations away from the airports were much lower.

Cities which stand out more than others is Houston, Kansas City and Las Vegas. These locations showed the highest disparity the daily base rate and the total tax due. Figures accounted for both nearby rental offices and airports.

The study has said to be quite inconclusive. They show that Enterprise has the lowest rates on medium size cars in most cases.
