High speed trains resume Channel tunnel schedules in February

Beginning 23 February, high speeds trains through the Channel tunnel will be able to resume normal services after repairs to areas damaged by last year’s fire are completed.

Eurotunnel, the owner and operator of the Channel tunnel, announced that repairs will be complete by 10 February, meaning that full service on Eurostar trains will be resumed shortly afterwards.

The normal timetable will resume from 23 February, with all trains operating at full speed. The fastest connection between London and Paris will be two hours 15 minutes, between London and Brussels, one hour 51 minutes and between London and Lille, one hour 20 minutes.

More trains will be added to the Channel tunnel routes, increasing services on the London-Paris route to 19 daily and on the London-Brussels route to 10.

A new direct service connecting Ashford and Brussels will be added. This launch of this service, scheduled for last December, was delayed by the tunnel fire.

Richard Brown, Eurostar’s chief executive, commented: “Shorter journey times will also encourage a further switch from plane to train in our fast-growing markets in the Midlands and North of England, where travellers are being attracted by good value through fares and the convenience of city centre to city centre journeys.”
