Posted on: November 24th, 2009 by Peter HeadleyOn New Zealand’s North Island you will find the largest fresh water lake in all of Oceania and Hilton have just recently opened the doors on their latest venture, the Holton Lake Taupo, named after the lake. The hotel will have 113 top of the range deluxe rooms and apartments. It is the first high-class hotel to open in Taupo and Hilton’s second hotel for the country. The site incorporates the Terraces Hotel which was built 120-years ago and has been refurbished to a high standard. The new wing has rooms overlooking the lake and to the nearby volcanic mountains.
The restaurant that is attached to the hotel has already been given rave reviews and is classed as one of the best in the area for their outstanding menu. Most of the foods are sourced locally to keep the local community thriving and the meals set up for breakfast, lunch and dinner have been designed by top chefs. In the summer time you can dine outside on the terrace or winter time by the log fire in comfortable leather seating. There is a fitness centre and swimming pool for the energetic and business centre for corporate clients.
Lake Taupo is one of the most popular places to visit for corporate and leisure clients. There are many activities you can do here from watersports on the lake that is almost the size of Singapore to skiing in the winter up at Mt Ruapehu, which is only a one hour drive away. There are two world rated golf courses close by which can be a great for relaxing while here.
