Hourly car rentals for US students

Students, be they in America or the UK or most other places around the world, have long been associated with having transportation issues. Many opt for bicycles or public transport that is not always reliable or there are the few that can have the 20-year-old car that will chug them and a few friends to school as long as they do not mind pushing every now and then. One city in North Carolina has welcomed a car rental craze that seems to be spreading to other cities in the world: hourly car rental.

Charlotte now has the new service called Connnect, offered by Hertz. This is a unique car sharing part of their business and offers car rentals for as little as $8 per hour. Johnson C Smith University and UNC Charlotte both now offer their students this scheme that was first implemented in December of last year. Students who wish to rent the cars have to first be members; and then they can then reserve cars via the internet and will use their unique swipe card to gain access to the car. Insurance and fuel is all included in the hourly price and once the students are done with their allotted time of car usage, it must be returned to where it was taken from.

Hourly car rentals are fast becoming the way for young people to get about because it so easy and readily available with the new hi-tech world we live in today. Zipcar are another firm that offers hourly rentals and the company has grown rapidly over the past year. They offer the same kind of service in the US and Britain, and are looking to expand to more cities across the UK.
