Irish Ferries offering more time ashore this winter

Passengers that choose to do booze cruises and trips from Rosslare in County Wexford to the port of Cherbourg in France will be able to spend an extra 90 minutes in the city.

Irish Ferries announced late last week that they would be departing earlier than normal for just the autumn and winter months. On Wednesdays and Fridays, they would depart at 21:30 for the roughly 18-hour journey and on Sundays they would depart at 18:00. The return ferries will still be operating the same return time of 21:30 giving up to seven hours on dry land for whatever kind of shopping passengers would like to do.

The ferry firm has struck a deal with one of the companies in Cherbourg, Normandie Wine Warehouse to give their passengers up to 12.5 per cent discount on certain products. This weekend, the Irish ferry company will be offering a special cruise deal to Cherbourg with wine tasting, and it will be headed by the broadcaster and wine writer, Martin Moran for an extra treat. Fares will start at €99 per person, which include a cabin with twin beds and are based on two people sharing. For those that want to really stock up, they can bring their car for just an extra €89.

Ferry trips to France, have long been a way for Brits and the Irish to stock up on cheaper alcohol because of the lower taxes in France. Since the suspension of limits to what passengers can bring back, there has been a high increase in the amount of people that do just that for Christmas time and other special occasions.
