“Jihad Jane” Will be Tried for Conspiracy and Terrorism
Posted on: March 11th, 2010 by Andy SimpsonThe Justice Department announced they have brought charges against “Jihad Jane”. The Pennsylvania native, whose real name is Colleen LaRose, will be formally accused of conspiring to provide aid with material support to terrorists, conspiracy to committ murder in a foreign nation, and making false statements to government officials as well as attempting identity theft.
A law enforcement official, under an anonymity agreement, spoke out on the details of the case with the press, despite being warned not to. He gave the information that Ms. LaRose is a white, blond haired, blue eyed woman. The indictment for the charges indicates that there are emails between Ms. LaRose and conspirators which state that because of her appearance and her American passport she will be better equipped to operate undetected.
The emails also contain information in which Ms. LaRose was directed to fly to Sweden in March 2009 to aid in a planned execution. Ms. LaRose is the third suspected terrorist this year who does not meet the so-called screening specifics which the Department of Homeland Security insists on adhering to.
Department of Homeland Security has not been shy about stating that they do single out Muslim, “terror-prone” countries. However, the Christmas Bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who holds Nigerian citizenship and spent years studying in the UK does not meet the requirements of a terror-suspect.
Richard Reid, a British citizen with Jamaican descent, would not have been exposed as a shoebomber based on that criteria either. Now, Ms. LaRose, an American citizen with fair skin and light hair, has been exposed as plotting to commit acts of terror as well. Three individuals in the past year who would not have been singled out by racial profiling, yet who clearly have ties to terrorism.
