Kuoni Travel announces rise in Maldives bookings

Kuoni Travel recently announced that the first half of 2008 has seen a rise of 28% in Maldives luxury holiday bookings, compared with the first half of last year, despite the credit crunch felt by many UK customers.

The popularity of holidays in Maldives continues to grow, making it seem that this type of luxury holiday is unaffected by the economic downturn impacting many Britons. Recent improvements to the Kuoni Travel website have been made to improve the visitor experience, particularly the addition of numerous destination video guides. The travel operator believes this to have helped maintain the success in the Maldives holiday market.

“The Maldives is one of the destinations which have not been affected by the current economic climate,” said Matt Rooke, eBusiness Director for Kuoni. “In fact, with it’s ‘no-news’ tranquillity and natural beauty, it is the ideal destination to escape from press coverage of the economy”

“The videos not only highlight the stunning scenery of the Maldives, but also provide potential travellers with a fantastic tool to review the wide choice of hotels available on the different islands,” continued Rooke. “From indulgent, luxury resorts such as Baros, to the more modest, but no less beautiful, resort of Kuramathi Cottage & Spa we offer a wide choice of Maldives hotels and are confident that the videos help our customers to find the one that’s perfect for their personal holiday needs”.
