A Los Angeles County employee has died while working in her work cubicle, but was not discovered until the next day.
The body of Rebecca Wells, 51, was found in her work area by a security guard who was making his rounds on Saturday morning. According to statements made by the woman’s colleagues, she was last seen alive on Friday at 5:00 PM and did not seem upset.
Linda Estrada, one of the company’s managers said that Rebecca was fine and did not seem sick. Estrada added that Wells was in good humour and had been sending e-mails all day. According to the detectives handling the case, it appears that more than 24 hours passed between Wells’ death and when the guard found her body, suggesting that Wells could have been dead in her cubicle while her colleagues worked quietly around her.
Estrada said Wells was not at her desk on this particular day, but was working at a semi-empty room in one of the government buildings, which explains why it took so long to find her body. Wells had worked for the county for the past 11 years and had recently become a grandmother. While Los Angeles officials ordered an autopsy, police ruled out criminal hands in this case.
Although forensic doctors have yet to release their final reports, it seems that Wells died of natural causes. Estrada has expressed her sadness over her colleague’s sudden death, saying that she was an exceptional person and mother, loved by everyone working with her.
