Toilets are very much a private affair no matter who you are and this is made slightly better by having male and female toilets. There are not many places left in the world where toilets are unisex, and when you do find them it usually involves some sort of transport like coaches and trains. Planes are another place where you will find unisex toilets, but for one airline that is about to change. All Nippon Airways, the Japanese carrier, has announced that from Monday all of their international flights will have female only toilets on board.
The airline has said that they have introduced the facility to their female passengers after a number of requests. A survey that was compiled three years ago also suggested that the airline should consider woman only loos. There will only be one lavatory on the plane that is for females only and it will be located towards the rear of the plane. It will have a pink sticker on so that male traveller will understand they will have to look elsewhere to leave the toilet seat up.
In a move that in the day and age might seem as politically incorrect, the women will have their own toilet and also be able to use any of the other toilets on the aircraft. There will also be some exception to the rule like in the case of illness or the lack of female passengers. The news has had a mixed result on the internet with some forums having debating issues on the subject.
