London hotel prices drop
Posted on: December 23rd, 2009 by Robert BergersonAccording to hotel consultants, PFK, the average price of a London hotel fell by 1.6 per cent in the months of October and November this year. The cost for a room in the capital fell to under £120 compared with the same period in 2008. The drop in price helped the occupancy rate grow in London to almost 87 per cent, a five per cent increase on October and November 2008.
London seemed to be the only area in the England that recorded an increase as the rest of the country was down on both rates and occupancy by 7.2 per cent and 5.8 respectively. Edinburgh did also do well in their occupancy rates by increasing them to 78.5 per cent for the two month in 2009 compared to that of last year.
It has not been the easiest of years for many hotels across the UK, with many Brits choosing not to have the added expense of a hotel when travelling around for trips. Instead many have chosen to travel to and form their destination in one day. Others have opted to stay with family and friends on short breaks to save money as the world was in the depths of a recession.
For the coming year the competition on hotel prices is sure to give us all some great deals out there. Some of the major hotels are looking at offering special weekend packages to encourage us to go with discounts on things like theatre tickets and excursions if they are booked before the end of the year.
