London Mayor restores Thames to tube map

There was outrage last week in the capital after Transport for London (TfL) started to hand out their new and improved London tube map to commuters and tourists. With the introduction of new lines and stations TfL tried to make the map less confusing and decided to do away with a few added things that were on the map.

Firstly went the ringed background which would inform travellers as to what zone they would be travelling to so they could buy the correct Zone Pass, but the thing that got Londoners’ backs up the most was the omission of the River Thames. Leading the war cries was London’s very own, Mayor Boris Johnson, who ordered TfL to add the Thames back to the map when the next edition comes out.

TfL had said they made the changes to the map as they thought it was getting too clustered and new visitors to the capital would get confused or lost when trying to find their destination. Tour groups in the city made the first vocal points asking how some visitors would now find the river if they wanted to come and view it, joined by others that know how to get to places in relation to where the river is.

Boris Johnson has also asked TfL to rethink their removal of the zonal circles from the map.
