Low carbon vehicles launched in test run for the UK
Posted on: December 14th, 2009 by Samantha WilliamsIn a bid to see how what changes the UK need to make in order to become a greener country, a selection of low carbon vehicles have been handed out in a trial run where drivers will be monitored to see how easily they can be incorporated into real life. A total of 25 Mitsubishi aptly named Electric Vehicles have been handed out in a project that received backing from the UK Government. Motoring genius Quentin Wilson was one of the experts who has been handed a car as part of the test and the trial is being conducted by Coventry and Birmingham Low Emission Vehicle Demonstrators (CABLED).
How the vehicles are used, how often, and what types of infrastructure may need to be added to the country’s road systems will all be assessed. Places where people can charge their cars will have to be added to the roads at a cost that is yet to be set out and this trial hopes to help towards working out the true cost of going green.

Over the next few months a total of 340 vehicles will be handed around the country and similar assessments will be made in order to get a clearer picture over time about what will be involved in the use of electric cars. Quentin Wilson has described the tests as being the beginning of a huge change in the types of cars that people drive and he is excited about the forecast changes.
