According to a survey conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), most air passengers are happy with their airport experience in the UK.
In August and September of 2008, over 1,600 passengers using Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester and Stansted airports were asked for their opinions.
Up to 80 per cent of those polled said they would recommend the particular airport they were using to a friend, while six per cent said they would not recommend it.
The survey was conducted at the time the government was looking to improve service to airport customers.
It found that 87 per cent of the passengers were able to check-in with their bags in under 20 minutes; and that 50 per cent waited less than five minutes.
At security, 74 per cent said that they waited for 10 minutes or less, but the number fell to 63 per cent at Stansted.
Sixty-seven per cent of the passengers polled reported no flight delays, while 17 per cent said that they experienced either arrival or departure delays. Passengers at Stansted were more likely than passengers at Gatwick or Heathrow to not have experienced delays.
Those travelling on budget carriers were less likely than passengers travelling on charter flights to have experienced flight delays.
