Marriott Plans To Open 9 New Properties In Saudi Arabia
Posted on: May 10th, 2008 by Lisa DavidsonMarriott International has plans to develop 9 brand-new properties in Saudi Arabia as of 2010. The plans are a part of a recent agreement with Fawaz Abdul Aziz Al-Hokair & Associates Hotel Company LLC based in the Kingdom.
The new hotel-properties will be located in Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, and Jubail. They will also be a symbol of Marriott International brands like The Ritz-Carlton Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Marriott Executive Apartments Marriott Hotels & Resorts and Courtyard by Marriott. When these hotels open, they will make a major footprint in Saudi Arabia for Marriott International - right now there are just three hotels and when this project is finished, there will be 12.
President and Managing Director of International Lodging for Marriott International, Ed Fuller, said that everyone at Marriott is excited by the fantastic growth that these hotels represent in Saudi Arabia. He also noted that they are delighted to share Fawaz Abdul Aziz Al-Hokair & Associates Hotel Company LLC’s vision for the region’s future.
Chairman Fawaz Abdul Aziz Al-Hokair & Associates Hotel Company LLC, Fawaz Abdul Aziz Al Hokair, commented that travel and tourism are a burgeoning trend in the economic landscape in several areas of the Middle East. He added that the group is excited to assist in the building of the new Marriott properties.
He continued to say that collaborating with Marriott enables the Saudi firm to expand their business and join the hotels segment with a global brand like Marriott. Al Hokair said that there is a long-term advantage for both sides since the demand for upscale hotels is still very high in Saudi Arabia and that demand is still unmet to a large extent. The partnership with Marriott should bring about travel inflow and result in keeping up the level of high demand as well as room for profitability in the hotels industry. Joining our partnership, Marriott is in an excellent position to make use of this exciting opportunity, he said.
