Michael Douglas was involved in a fight with paparazzi on Thursday night in London on Thursday after his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, said that a photographer had punched her in the face.
The Hollywood couple were being chauffeured back to their hotel in London after spending the day Buckingham Palace, where Zeta-Jones received an honour of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) from Prince Charles.
However, on their way back from the royal residence, they encountered some trouble as they left their car and were forced to make their way through an army of photographers who waited at the entrance to their hotel.
US news show Entertainment Tonight obtained video footage of the scuffle in which Zeta-Jones is heard screaming, “How dare you punch me!” towards the boisterous snapper as they made their way into the hotel lobby.
The Hollywood actress then demanded a police officer saying that one of the guys had punched her. Then Michael Douglas leapt to defend his wife calling the alleged attacker an “a**hole” before he pushed the photographer. Security staff quickly rushed in to break up the scuffle.
It is unknown whether or not the couple filed an official complaint with the police, which the Douglases say spoiled a “fabulous” day, according publicist Allen Burry. When asked about the video, he told Entertainment Tonight that they could see it for themselves, but otherwise the trip was a fabulous one.
