Music performance at Stansted by lastminute.com

A popular British online travel agency, lastminute.com, recently released a new viral advertisement filmed in Stansted Airport.

The online travel and leisure website used a total of seven hidden cameras to film the advertisement, which features characters in cleaning uniforms and police uniforms, performing in a musical.

The disguised airport “staff” break out into an improvised musical performance inspired by a broken vending machine, surrounded by crowds of actual passengers using the airport. The advertisement is promoting discounted theatre tickets which are available through the company’s website.

Julie Davidson, the marketing director for lastminute.com, said: “Viral advertising is a new and exciting advertising medium for lastminute.com. The theatre sale was the perfect opportunity for lastminute.com to launch this new era.”

Lastminute.com was founded in 1998 and purchased by Travelocity. The website provides discounts and bookings for holidays, city breaks, flights, hotels, car hire, restaurants and spas.

In 2007, lastminute.com’s car rental service was awarded Star Leisure Rental Company award at the Travel Bulletin Awards 2007. The website allows bookings of all classes of cars from a wide variety of locations including airports.

The website offers savings on the London Eye of up to 40 per cent and advertises flights to Dublin starting from £53.
