Nicole Scherzinger bumps Adele from the top spot

American singer Nicole Scherzinger has bumped Adele from the top position on the UK singles chart.

The former Pussycat Doll has nabbed the No. 1 position from her British counterpart via her new single Don’t Hold Your Breath. Scherzinger is also currently featured as a judge on Simon Cowell’s American Idol programme.

The change comes after Adele enjoyed four weeks in the top position thanks to her song Someone Like You. Her sophomore record, 21, is still topping album sales charts in the UK for the eighth consecutive week whilst her debut release, 19, remains in the No. 2 position.

With the release of Someone Like You Adele became the first living singer since the Beatles to grab two of the top five spots on both the albums and the singles charts at the same time. This week, she saw her single Rolling In The Deep climb from the No. 9 spot into the No. 8 position, however her cover of Bob Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love dropped from No. 33 to No. 37.

Meanwhile, Gold Forever from The Wanted for its Comic Relief effort took the third place position whilst Price Tag from Jessie J and B.O.B was knocked down to fourth place from Second. S&M by Rihanna fell from third place to fifth whilst girl group Parade made their way onto the chart via the No. 10 spot.
