New Zealand holiday vehicle rental operator Tourism Holdings (THL) has revealed that it is freezing staff salaries due to current economic conditions.
Grant Webster, the company’s CEO, said: “The near term impacts on the tourism sector have been well publicised. The coming summer is, at best, showing no indication of being any better than the last.”
The company is working with union members toward the ratification of a proposal that would maintain currently existing terms and conditions for the next 12 months. Staff employed on individual agreements will not have their basic salary rate reviewed.
Webster went on to say: “Our crew are important to us and I need to acknowledge the way in which they are working with the company and helping us ensure we are effectively positioned for the market recovery.”
THL is the largest holiday rental vehicle provider in Australia and New Zealand, trading under the Backpacker, Britz, Explore More and Maui brands.
In addition, the company operates Discover Waitomo and Kiwi Experience in New Zealand, and Feejee Experience, Great Sights and Tourist Transport Fiji – in Fiji.
