Alamo has reached what representatives of the car rental giant describe as an important milestone. Just over one million renters have now used Alamo’s self-service electronic kiosks when collecting their vehicles from airport outlets and suburban locations in the United States. Kitty Eisele was officially recognized as the one millionth Alamo renter to use the firm’s kiosks. Eisele made use of these self-service machines at one of Alamo’s Minneapolis locations. The avid Alamo renter explained that whenever she rents a car, she “hits the ground running” and looks for a company that offers her speed, value for money and efficient service. Richard Johnson of Pennsylvania, another regular Alamo client, found that as one of the pioneers of self-service kiosks, Alamo’s collection system is user-friendly, efficient and fast. Despite these automated kiosks, Johnson noted that this has not meant a complete end to human contact. The frequent renter has found Alamo staff to always be available, and they are polite and helpful. At the very minimum, they still greet clients who choose to eschew agent counters and use automated kiosks instead.
Alamo first introduced its automated kiosks two years ago throughout the United States. Since then, over a million renters have made use of these machines. Alamo’s president, Greg Stubblefield, noted that the self-service kiosks help make the rental process much more hassle-free than ever before. Stubblefield also asserted that his firm was “hundreds of thousands of kiosk rentals ahead” of all major competitors.
In order to use these kiosks, clients must present a valid driver’s license, as well as any major credit card. The next stage in the collection process includes the printing of the rental agreement and summary, which the customer may then take with him/her to the car park, where the reserved vehicle is ready to be driven away.
