Parking woes named and shamed by insurance firm
Posted on: October 13th, 2009 by Martin FellowesCar parking can be a nightmare for all of us, from waiting patiently for a spot to come up outside your favourite shop to negotiating the multi-storey car park, it can all lead to a not so pleasant experience. Many people will leave a space behind if it is busy as they do not want the embarrassment and instead head off somewhere else. Others can leave the rest frustrated as they try in vane to get their two metre wide car into a space everyone else knows it is not going to fit in to.
Now for a little peace of mind an insurance company, namely Aviva, has compiled a recent survey and named and shamed the top 10 parking nightmares so we can all know it is not just us. For the past month the UK public has been nominating what they feel are the worst places in Britain for parking hassles. Alton, in Hampshire got onto the list with a novel car parking space that has a wall on the right and rear and then the surrounding spaces allows a car to park in front of you and to the left making it impossible even to get to your car.
A trip to the seaside at Brighton will need to be done by skinny people in skinny cars as one car park is renowned for how narrow their spaces are. At many car park throughout Britain the largest complaint seemed to stem from concrete pillars. In most cases these are good and help support the structure, but in others they seem to be poorly placed and insurance firms receive a high number of claims from motorists scrapping their paintwork along them.
