Passenger fined hundreds for air rage incident on Flyebe
Posted on: September 3rd, 2008 by Benjamin TierA passenger aboard a flight from Birmingham to Edinburgh found himself hit with a £400 fine, after what appears to have been an air rage incident on a plane operated by regional carrier Flybe. According to a report in Edinburgh’s Evening News, 54 year old Charles Bradley became verbally abusive and aggressive towards flight attendants on the aircraft. Bradley, originally from Oxford, was apparently irate over the fact that cabin crew limited both him and his wife to a single beverage, even though the passenger had asked for more.
According to documents filed in court, Bradley may have been in an intoxicated state during the flight and this may explain his aggressive behaviour. The passenger became some troublesome that the captain had to warn him, after he refused to listen to flight attendants. In the end, Bradley was arrested by local police in Edinburgh right after the Flybe plane landed at the airport. Although this incident occurred back in May, the case only came before the courts yesterday, when Bradley pleaded guilty to charges that he disturbed the peace on the plane. Bradley, however, disputed the claim that he was also intoxicated during the flight, even though one person testified to seeing him consuming an alcoholic beverage at the airport. David Storrie, Bradley’s defence counsel, told the court that his client had already issued an apology to a flight attendant that he insulted. According to court documents, Bradley told a member of the cabin crew where she could “stick” her drink, after he was denied a beverage.
Thank you to the Evening News for the initial report.
