Peugeot Mu ‘pay as you go’ Scheme to Come to UK
Posted on: March 10th, 2010 by Frank ToddPeugeot will bring their Mu “pay as you go’ car hire services into the UK. The service, which has been operating wide spread in France for some time, allows customers to set up a prepaid account and top up the card online at the Peugeot Mu website.
Once the account is set up, customers will then have access to a variety of Peugeot vehicles including scooters, bicycles, and cars. Accessories can also be rented like roof boxes for additional boot space.
The major idea behind the offer is to open up vehicle access in cities and countries where owning a personal vehicle is a burden. Why buy a car that will only get used once or twice a year? The best option then is to hire one only when it is needed.
The programme has been in full swing in Paris and rental prices range from 65 Euro per day for a mid-size vehicle to 215 Euro for an entire weekend with a Coupe.
The launch of the new programme coincides with the unveiling of the new Peugeot Ion, which just had the paperwork finalized by the company last week. Mitsubishi and Peugeot were expected to collaborate, but plans for an equity stake swap have since been abandoned.
