Earlier this week, car hire company Avis launched its 12th annual Travel Agent Scholarship of Excellence. Within the first hours of the application being online, Avis received two applications, illustrating the popularity of the program in the industry.
The winner of the scholarship receives a prize packaged valued over $30,000. In addition, this year’s winner will also be awarded some new benefits.
This years changes include an enhanced educational aspect including a complementary module on cruise training sponsored by the International Cruise Council Australia.
Russell Butler, the Avis Travel Industry Manager said that the ongoing loyalty of the scholarship’s sponsors spoke volumes to the program’s strengths. “With the ICCA joining,” he said, “it adds to the credibility of the awards”.
“It is a new breed of travel consultants we are talking to,” Mr Butler said, anticipating a high number of entries to the scholarship this year.
The scholarship, according to Butler, is not based on a travel agent’s sales record with Avis, and is open to any travel consultant within Australia.
“It sticks to its original aim of delivering customer excellence. It’s not an educational or FOC, it’s a scholarship, the best scholarship in Australia,” Max Najar, Avis Advisory Board Member (Axis Travel, Adelaide) said.
