Porter Airlines to offer regular Quebec City route
Posted on: July 31st, 2008 by Dave AndersonToronto-based Porter Airlines has already been flying to Quebec City on a seasonal basis, but the regional, full-service carrier has now decided to turn this into a regular route due to popular demand. Porter first began offering direct flights from its hub at the Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA) early this summer, which proved to be a wise business decision, considering that many more travelers decided to visit North America’s only fortified city ahead of the 400th anniversary of its founding than ever before.
For the coming months, Porter Airlines will offer three weekly flights to Quebec City, departing from the TCCA every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. By choosing these dates, the carrier is clearly trying to appeal to leisurely travelers who may want to spend a long weekend in the French-speaking province’s capital city. During the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, however, Porter will offer daily departures from Toronto.
Robert Deluce, Porter’s chief executive officer, told journalists that he was very pleased with the regional carrier’s performance on the Toronto to Quebec City route, noting the service had been “welcomed enthusiastically” by passengers this summer.
Porter Airlines offers regular daily service from the TCCA to three destinations, namely to Ottawa, Montreal and Newark-Liberty Airport, which serves the New York City area. The carrier is known for offering a high level of in-flight service not seen on other North American airlines, including free meals and alcoholic drinks on all routes.
