Porter passengers get 400th anniversary discount at Quebec hotel
Posted on: July 29th, 2008 by Hannah WestfieldPaul McCartney’s high profile and somewhat controversial concert in Quebec City, on the occasion of the city’s 400th anniversary, has come and gone, but Porter Airlines is still encouraging tourists to travel up to North America’s only fortified city and enjoy a 20 percent discount when they stay at the elegant Chateau Frontenac hotel. In order to take advantage of this discount and to enjoy five star luxury for less at the Fairmont Frontenac, Porter asks all passengers to book a ticket on the carrier’s Toronto to Quebec City route. One way tickets from Toronto’s City Centre Airport start at $189 aboard Canada’s only full-service airline, but clients should expect to pay an extra $85 in taxes and fees on top of the basic airfare. In order to reserve a room with the 20 percent discount, however, passengers will have to call Fairmont’s toll-free customer service and booking centre. Those who live in the Maritimes can also fly to Quebec City from Halifax, using Porter Airlines. These tickets are actually cheaper than those from Toronto and start from only $99 each way.
Although Porter Airlines only started operating flights two years ago–in autumn 2006– the carrier has already built a reputation for offering above-standard in-flight service, compared to any other airline in North America. Passengers are offered a light meal and free alcoholic beverages on even the shortest of regional flights, and those traveling out of Toronto get to enjoy complimentary access to Porter’s stylish lounge, where wireless internet and designer coffees are both available, free of charge.
