Qatar Airways has unveiled a pioneering business class private suite with double bed. CEO Akbar Al Baker was on hand at the ITB Berlin Travel Trade Show on Wednesday to provide delegates and media reporters with a sneak preview of the QSuite.
The CEO stated that he was delighted to be present on the momentous occasion when premium air travel of the future was presented to the world. He added that the QSuite’s innovative design broke ground in offering premium class flyers personal space and as much privacy as was humanly possible in an aircraft cabin.
The QSuite is a foldaway cabin within a cabin which allows flight crews to pull out panels from adjacent business class seats to create a personalised space for up to four occupants. The set-up can be further tweaked to provide a double bed for couples to enjoy undisturbed slumbers high in the sky.
Most of the travel industry reporters at ITB Berlin had gotten wind of the unveiling of the double bed in the sky and crowded into Qatar’s marquee for Akbar Al Baker’s speech. Cabin crew gave the audience guided tours of the QSuite and demonstrated how it was put together.
Qatar Airways is one of the principal backers of the Qatar-Germany 2017 Year of Culture and specifically chose the ITB show in Berlin as the stage to debut the QSuite. The show was also the venue for the unveiling of the state-of-the-art Oryx One in-flight entertainment system. Oryx gives a mind-boggling choice of 3,000 different entertainment options.
