With Michael Jackson’s death, tour operators in the UK that had been offering packages to the pop star’s upcoming London concerts, have found themselves organising exchange trips and issuing refunds.
The 50 concert dates for the King of Pop’s performances at London’s O2 Arena were the fastest-moving tickets in history, with 40,000 selling every hour.
Thomson Experience, Superbreak and Keith Prowse Attraction Tickets had all been offering package tours that included concert tickets.
After Jackson’s death was announced, would-be concert-goers spent the weekend anxiously awaiting news as operators were in touch with AEG Live regarding how to handle ticket refunds.
Superbreak was the first to post information online informing Jackson tour package customers about what they are entitled to.
Thomson Experience, an official partner of the event, has now confirmed that its customers will receive full refunds on the tours.
Cara Threlfall, the marketing manager at Thomson Experience, said: “We can confirm that Thomson Experience is offering full ticket and accommodation refunds to all passengers who booked. In addition we can offer alternative activities including theatre tickets for those who still wish to travel to London with a full refund for their concert tickets.”
