Reggie Bush May Have Heisman Trophy Taken Away

It now seems that the Heisman Trophy Trust is expected to strip the former University of Southern California star, Reggie Bush, of his Heisman Trophy. They are expected to strip him of this honor before the end of September.

Reggie Bush would become the first player in the 75-year history of the award to have the trophy actually taken away. Apparently the NCAA found major violations in his college’s football program in June. Ever since then the NCAA has been taking serious action against the school.

Two sources, which are close to the Heisman Trust, said that the body’s investigation is coming to a close. This will ultimately concur with the NCAA’s determination that Bush was ineligible during his Heisman-winning season back in 2005. Due to the independent conclusion, sources said that the trust will relieve Mr Bush of the award and leave the honor for that season vacant. The source finished up by saying that Bush met with Heisman representatives last month at the New York law offices of Emmet, Marvin & Martin. However, the source would not reveal details of the meeting, and Bush, who is now a Super Bowl Champion with the New Orleans Saints, could not be contacted for a comment on the matter.

The Heisman Trust has been conducting its own independent inquiry into Bush’s eligibility since the NCAA ruled in June that the University of Southern California star had committed multiple violations by accepting cash gifts, as well as other benefits. Due to this, the NCAA said that Bush was ineligible for the award.

This would be a huge blow to Reggie Bush. Although he has now won a Super Bowl, this is an award that he would never be able to get back. This will only help to tarnish his image.
