Rental car firm wins South Africa airports contract
Posted on: November 13th, 2009 by Samantha WilliamsThe car rental giant, Avis Rent A Car, has this week won the contract to have their desks in the key positions across nine airports owned and operated by Airports Company South Africa (ACSA). The contract will last for five year and will give the firm space for more prominent desks as passengers arrive and also give them more parking spaces for their cars. The area they can now use has almost tripled in size so the firm plans to redesign their entire operation to make it more appealing to the public as they enter the airport.
The first two phases of the refurbishment at Tambo International Airport have already taken place according to Wayne Duvenage of Avis in South Africa. The old counters had to be completely stripped out and the whole set-up from the ceiling tiles and the walls have so far been altered so that there is more space for their potential new business they will get from next year. There will now be two separate counters to work from, one that is designed for corporate and fast-track customers and the other for customers that roll up on the day. This will help in dealing with customers more efficiently.
Work is slowly starting at the other eight airports that they have won the contract for and Cape Town looks set to be the next one completed by early next year. Here they also offer a chauffer service to their clients with a well trained driver native to the area with valuable knowledge.
