Rental firms low on cars in Idaho
Posted on: January 9th, 2008 by Taylor SmithMajor car hire firms, such as Enterprise and Thrifty, are said to be running out of available rental vehicles in the town of
Idaho Falls, according to KIDK TV, a local station, affiliated with the CBS network. Treacherous winter conditions and icy roads have caused a large number of collisions in recent days, which has meant that many local residents have turned to rental firms, in order to hire a car while their personal automobile is repaired. James Glover, representing Thrifty’s local outlet, told journalists that there has been a “steady” stream of clients looking to rent vehicles, and that he was forced to turn several away, due to the higher than expected demand. Glover mentioned that renters looking to hire an SUV will probably find themselves out of luck, as demand has been highest for this type of vehicle. The main reason behind this is that SUVs come with four wheel drive, which is especially handy in winter driving conditions. Heavy snowfall so far this winter, as well as the likely arrival of travelers looking to go skiing, will continue to keep demand for rental cars high in
Idaho Falls. Glover described the situation as “hectic,” mainly because an ever growing number of out of town clients are also calling in to make reservations.
Those who are looking to rent a car because their personal automobile has been in an accident must be certain to mention this at the time of rental, in order to ensure that the client receives the proper reimbursement, according to the terms of his/her policy.
