The Rezidor Hotel group has said that construction of its Park Inn, situated on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, is progressing well, meaning that the hotelier’s newest United Arab property Emirates (UAE) will open on schedule.

According to the hotelier, the property will open by the time the emirate’s inaugural 2009 Formula One Etihad Airways Grand Prix is held in November.

Brussels-based Rezidor currently has 13 properties in the UAE that are either under development or already in operation. It noted that the Yas Marina Circuit, which will see Monte Carlo-style Formula One racing introduced in Abu Dhabi, is an important focal point for its entry into the capital of the UAE.

The hotel group will open two properties on Yas Island: the 204-room Park Inn and the Radisson Blu Hotel.

These newest properties join the Rezidor Regent Pearl Abu Dhabi, another brand that is new-to-market, under construction on the city’s Corniche.

“According to the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, the UAE capital is expecting to attract 2.7 million tourists a year by 2012, almost double its current rate,” said Rezidor’s vice president for the Middle East and Egypt, Marko Hytonen.

Top-tier projects in Abu Dhabi include the nature-based, multi-experiential Desert Islands, the Culture District of Saadiyat Island – where visitors will find new branches of both the Guggenheim and Louvre museums – and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) expansion.
