Royal Caribbean Cruises is jumping on the 3-D bandwagon with the announcement of 3-D theaters being added to many of their ships. The cruise line says that they will debut the technology on their next ship, Allure of the Seas, which is a sister to the Oasis of the Seas, that have the capacity of 5,400 guests. The new vessel is expected to start serving journeys late this year.
The company also says that the 3-D screens will roll out on the Oasis of the Seas in the coming year. They also plan to add them to the Liberty of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas, which are also sister ships that can hold up to 3,634 passengers.
Royal Caribbean International senior vice president of hotel operations Lisa Bauer says that they will be able to offer first rate 3-D films and other content in the theaters. This will be real innovation for the company, she added.
The 3-D screen, which will be part of the Amber Theater for the Allure of the Seas, isn’t the only new amenity to be announced for the ship. Royal Caribbean has also announced the vessel will have a Rita’s Cantina restaurant, which offers Mexican cuisine; The Boardwalk Dog House, which is a specialty hot dog counter; a Guess store, which is a first; docking stations for iPods in the cabins; and kiosks for guests to view and print their on-board account statements, restaurant reservations and airline reservations and boarding passes.
With these features, it’s clear that the Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas are different ships. Bauer says that they both have their own distinctive experience offered to guests with a wide selection of choices that attract people of all ages and lifestyles.
