Royal Caribbean takes delivery of most expensive cruise vessel
Posted on: November 2nd, 2009 by Samantha WilliamsThe giant of cruising, Royal Caribbean Cruises, is all ready to take delivery of its new cruise ship, which will be the most expensive and largest to ever set sale on the open seas. The Oasis of the Seas is a masterpiece and will be nicknamed ‘a museum at sea’ due to the amount of great art work that will be displayed on board the liner. There will be over 9,000 art works on board when it is handed over officially to the firm at the ship yard it was built at, in Finland.
The ship has taken almost six years to complete and cost around $1 billion for the final product. It will sail off to Fort Lauderdale in the south of Florida before it is set to make its first voyage of four nights with 6,000 passengers and 2,000 crew along for the ride. The whole journey to its new home in North America will be recorded and tracked via the social networking site, Twitter. Here, enthusiasts will get regular updates on her progress all the way to the US.
This latest ship by the firm will be the best in the world with all the latest gadgets set to be on board. It will feel like you are on dry land, so to speak, with a surf machine so riders can practice their skills before heading off for the real thing. An ice skating rink will also be on board as well as a promenade that will stretch almost the entire length of the boat and will be full of shops, bars and restaurants. Accommodation will be second to none, with the top floor suites offering floor to ceiling windows with unparalleled views of the surrounding ocean.
