A growing number of Canadian residents are crossing the border into America to catch flights other airports in the country. There is a simple reason for this, because it is cheaper, a lot cheaper in some cases.
Jolly Khanna makes a 90-minute journey in his car from his hometown of Montreal across the border to fly from Burlington Airport in Vermont. Mr Khanna does this regularly for business and reckons it saves him up to $300 each time.
Others that choose to hop over the border instead of flying from their own country have done so for a number of reasons, the most popular reason is because of the more relaxed security procedures for US internal flights. The smaller airports in the north of the US are also a lot easier to get around and offer cheaper parking facilities.
In 2009 it is estimated that 2.5 million Canadians travelled to the US to fly from their airports and this year that number is expected to increase dramatically as more Canadians are becoming switched on to the cheaper flights.
