Scottish courier firm becomes biggest Hertz client
Posted on: May 6th, 2008 by Dave AndersonEagle Couriers, based in Edinburgh and Glasgow, has reportedly become Hertz Rent-A-Car’s biggest customer when it comes to vans, after it decided to rent a total of 85 vans from the international car hire giant. All of Eagle’s vehicles are provided by Hertz, and are easily identifiable by their red colour and the courier’s logo, which is prominently featured on all vans. Davie Hood, Hertz’s regional van sales manager, observed that the car rental company’s relationship with Eagle was “growing,” and both companies seem to benefit from this cooperation. One of the advantages that Hertz offers Eagle, as well as other clients who decide to lease a car over an extended period of time, is that they are not restricted by a lengthy contractual agreement. Eagle actually rents on a month-by-month basis, which means that it has the right to cancel whenever it pleases. Additionally, Hertz’s leasing services allows Eagle to either add more vehicles to its fleet, or decrease the number of vans at any time, providing the courier with maximum flexibility and what Hood refers to as a “no nonsense product.”
Hertz actually delivers all of its vans to Eagle’s headquarters, and is also given the option of collecting valuable Nectar points for each pound spent on van hires. Over the years, Hertz has developed a strong presence in the world of corporate rental, as well as among business clients. The car hire giant’s next task is to increase the number of leisurely renters who use the company, where it also faces stiff competition from rival firms that have based their reputations on discounted, budget prices.
